The Vice President of Somaliland H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi profoundly thanked the people of Erigavo and Sanaag region for the outstanding cooperation that they depicted, showed and accorded him and the delegation he led, as he engaged with the area leaders and residents in more than a month of his pacification mission initiatives.
The VP similarly hailed the residents on the smooth way the efforts, of nationalization and absorption of the local civilian militia into mainstream national armed forces, went.
He made the remarks as he addressed the mammoth crowd of Muslims who gathered at Erigavo grounds for the revered prayers of Eid ul Fitr that marked the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“I thank the people of Erigavo for their cooperation they accorded us as we conducted the national drive of absorbing the local civilian militia and drafting them into mainstream national armed forces”, he said.
“Brothers, we conducted the national drive on this aspect as per our pledges during the presidential campaigns and subsequently adhered to its implementation through this peace mission”, he elaborated.
He pointed out that he hoped that Erigavo and Sanaag region as a whole would soon fully revert to its noble cohesiveness of peaceful coexistence that was cherished in the near past.
He underscored that the reformed and restructured national armed forces was completely enough to tangibly and capably defend the nation at all times.
He prayed for peace and cohesion to take precedence over everything so as for progress to take effect in the region.
