Religion and Endowments Minister graces close of Quran recitation competition for under 12

The Minister of Religion and Endowments Hon. Sheikh Abdillahi Dahir Jama (Baashe) graced the occasion of the ending of the Quran recitation competition for children under 12 years of age, which was held in Hargeisa.

The Quran recitation competition for children under 12 years of age, organized by Soltelco telecommunications company for the month of Ramadan, was also attended by the Minister of Education and Islamic scholars of the country.

Prizes were awarded to the children who took first place.

Hon. Sheikh Abdillahi Daahir Jama (Baashe), lauded Soltelco for holding the Quran competition for 12-year-olds.

He said, “The Quran should guide our lives and I congratulate Soltelco for facilitating the competition. It is a new program and innovation. I’m also grateful to the scholars who were the judges for the under 12 competition”.

A representative from the Soltelco firm who spoke noted that by holding the Quran recitation competition for 12-year-olds, they have fulfilled their responsibility as an institution for their community, and that telecommunications companies should not only seek profit from the community, but return dues to them.

Every year during the month of Ramadan, such competitions are held in cities across the country, where Quranic competitions are held and prizes are awarded.
