The Chief Commander of the Somaliland National Police Force Services Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan, popularly known as Abdi Deere, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the UK, accompanied by officials from the police and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The trip aims to strengthen collaboration between the Somaliland Police Force and the FCDO, focusing on enhancing institutional cooperation and capacity-building initiatives.
The Commander met with senior UK police officials to discuss strategies for bolstering bilateral partnerships, particularly in training, skill development, and operational expertise.
The police chief likewise met with the South Wales Police, exploring ways to advance technical and tactical support for Somaliland’s law enforcement agencies.
The visit is in line with the conviction of the President, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro to modernize the police force while focusing on the upgrading training programs and professional standards and integrating advanced technology and methodologies into policing.
Meanwhile Brig Gen Abdideere met with Somaliland’s Diaspora communities in London and Cardiff, thanking them for their contributions to national development.
He pointed out the critical role of public participation in strengthening security and economic growth, hence called for continued collaboration between citizens and public institutions.
Somaliland’s revitalization and invigorated commitment to building robust international partnerships and advancing its security sector reforms is evident in the trip.
