Somaliland: MP Chandra Arya wants Canadian Govt Support Wahen Market Recovery

THT: With 40% of the economy destroyed at a stroke residents of Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland have to contend with livelihood difficulties exacerbated by effects of prolonged drought.
This disaster occurred a week ago when the sprawling Waheen market in Hargeisa was destroyed by fire.
This was informed the Canadian House of commons by MP Chandrakanth “Chandra” Arya where he urged immediate and direct intervention with financial support by the Government in Toronto.

Acknowledging the legislators @somalilandinkenya tweeted Thank you @AryaCanada for raising the #HargeisaMarketFire issue at the Parliament Hill of your great country, Canada.We appreciate your solidarity. With this tremendous support coming all over the world, Our Capital, Hargeisa will rise again and will be rebuilt bigger & better. Unquote

With over loss of goods worth over two billion dollars and now unemployed status of over 5000, the people of Hargeisa and The government of Somaliland are in need of immediate intervention” said MP Chandra Arya
Stating that the disaster occurred at the start of the holy month of Ramadan the Liberal politician and serves as a member of the Standing Committee on International Trade, stressed on the imperatives of expediting financial support
MP Chandra Arya also recognizes efforts by the Somaliland Canadian Congress and Canadian alliance for recognition of Hargeisa market , urging their engagement in Waheen rebuilding efforts.

MP Chandra told Canadian legislators that the fire has devastated the economy of Hargeisa the capital of Somaliland

Everyday post the Waheen market fire Somaliland has not only continued to receive messages of sympathy and pledges of support from various quarters both local and international but has also hosted a number of assessment teams from friendly counties.
On the hand the President of Somaliland Muse Bihi has made an official Appeal for support from the international community as other individuals and organisations continue to fundraiser globally
