Hargeisa (THT) Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation Hon. Mohamed Behi Yonis has attended in the 25thWorld Economic Forum on Africa at Cape Town, South Africa. During the event which lasted three days and ends today, Minister Yonis engaged in discussions with the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma, as well as participating in a number of panel discussions at the conference. During discussions on Africa’s security landscape, which focused on identifying drivers shaping security in Africa and preparing leaders for tomorrow’s challenges, Minister Yonis raised the issue of high levels of unemployment amongst the continent’s young population and the limited prospects of career development as one of the contributing factors to instability. The Minister also provided recommendations towards addressing these problems including stronger government policies to address inequality, the provision of vocational education and the encouragement of foreign direct investment.
