Mr. Ahmed Yusuf Idriss, representing CONCERN Worldwide Somaliland said, “CONCERN Worldwide Somaliland works to provide sustainable home grown solutions to alleviate the food shortages and the lack of agriculture and food policy in Somaliland and at the same time focuses on promoting sustainable agricultural development in order to reduce food.

Since the introduction of appropriate crop production practices, Farmers in the area through their cooperatives and joint training by the Ministry of Agriculture and CONCERN Worldwide Somaliland have being able to ultimately increase domestic income and reduce foreign dependence.

CONCERN Worldwide Somaliland has been assisting rural communities in the Gabiley Region since 2011. This region is unique in comparison to other parts of Somaliland in that it has a relatively high agricultural potential due to a more favorable climate and soils conducive to crop production. A contextual analysis by CONCERN recommended efforts to promote appropriate agricultural technologies as they progressed in a four-year project (2012 – 2015) known as Strengthening Household Economy and Reinforcing Resilience in Somaliland (SHERRIS). They have recently engaged SATG for that technical assistance.
